Description: The most important location along the line, Cooma had extensive freight facilities. When it opened, the station with its 90m platform sat on a platform road on the up side of the main line. A dock platform was present at the down end of the station. To the north were a pair of goods sidings which a goods platform and shed. Opposite this were the loco servicing facilities, including a 2-road engine shed, turntable, and coal stage. By 1963 several more goods, stock and oil sidings had been added. A short distance to the south of the station a pair of saleyards sidings has been constructed. Branching off the main line several kilometres to the north was a separate set of freight sidings known as the Snowy Mountains sidings.
Current status: The station and extensive yard are still present. The station building has been restored and is the base for the Cooma-Monaro Railway. Numerous semaphore signals dot the yard. On the platform is a signal box containing a large lever frame and the various safeworking equipment. The staff barrack opposite the station is intact and it good condition.
