The Glebemain branch ran through what is now the heart of Newcastle. It left the Newcastle Branch at Burwood Junction, near the intersection of Darby Street and Hunter Street. From there is passed down Burwood Street, across Civic Park and then down Bruce Street. From there the line went to the Hillside, Glebe Main and Glebe End collieries. The latter-day suburb of "The Junction" refers to the location where the Hillside Colliery siding branched off from this line.
