Description: |
Opened in 1917, the station sat on an 88m platform on the down side of the main line. Opposite the station were loop and goods sidings, the latter having a loading bank and goods shed. At the up end of the station was a stock siding and stock yards, whilst at the down end was a siding leading to a turntable, coal stage and water tank. By 1923 several more sidings had sprung up, serving local industries.
|
Current status: |
The yard still contains the station, goods shed, gantry crane, water tank and water column. The turntable and industrial sidings have gone. On 30/5/2001, a fire sadly extensively damaged the station building.
